Naia Morueta-Holme hired as Assistant professor at CMEC

New Assistant professor at CMEC and SNM, Naia Morueta-Holme.

In June 2017, Naia Morueta-Holme started as Assistant professor at Center for Macroecology, Evolution and Climate, Natural History Museum of Denmark.

Naia has a background in botanical macroecology combined with a research interest in citizen science, outreach and global change conservation. A perfect match for the research center and the museum.

Before she came (back) to Denmark, Naia was a postdoc at University of California, Berkeley, where she has been almost two years on her own independent research grant.

I am particularly proud of having led an expedition to the Ecuadorian Andes following the footsteps of the father of biogeography, Alexander von Humboldt, to document vegetation changes over two centuries (Morueta-Holme et al. 2015, PNAS). Besides the research findings, working on Humboldt opened my eyes to the relevance of historical data for global conservation research, and the use of art as a powerful tool for science communication
