Long-term climate change and diversity patterns

A recent study in Ecology Letters co-authored by David Nogués-Bravo shows that biodiversity is controlled by past climatic changes. Species responses to current climate are limited by the evolution of assemblages that occupied relatively climatically stable areas during the Pleistocene.
