CMEC og IUCN underskriver samarbejdsaftale

CMEC og IUCN Species Programme / Species Survival Commission har har identificeret et antal samarbejdsområder inden for deres arbejdsprogrammer med fokus på biodiversitet i Afrika - herunder kortlægning af artsdistributionen, vurdering af klimafølsomme træk og vurdering af IUCNs rød liste.

The Center f'or Macroecology, Evolution and Climate (CMEC), University of Copenhagen
and the IUCN Species Programme / Species Survival Commission (SSC) have identified a
number of collaborative activities within their work programmes. This letter proposes a number
of areas of collaboration and outlines how the collaboration modalities will operate:
Senior staff of the Center for Macroecology', Evolution and Climate (CMEC), University of
Copenhagen (UC) have for more ihan 15 years been developing and maintaining databases of the
distribution of African vertebrates at a I degree grid scale. This includes databases on birds.
mammals. amphibians, and selected reptile groups (snakes, chelonians and chameleons). All
these databases are frilly Lipdated to the current taxonomy and contain maps of the distribution of
species at I degree resolution (cemral point of the I degree grid), and supporting tiles of' materials
used to generate the maps.
